Complete Construction Solutions
Our customer base is a very targeted niche. The majority are directly related to the construction and development industry. Therefore they already know a big deal regarding our products, what to get, and how to take care of their newly purchased used heavy equipment
In the rest of the world, owners usually worry that the winter cold will harm their machinery. However, in the UAE, used heavy equipment owners worry mostly about the hot scorching summer months because the heat can cause significant damage to the machinery batteries.
Summer heat in the UAE & heavy equipment maintenance
From June to August we experience the hottest weather here in the UAE. Thus the battery life tends to deteriorate faster during the hot months. Super high temperatures can cause lead-acid battery current collectors to degrade more quickly and corrode during charging. Unfortunately, this corrosion causes machine batteries to become weak over time.
Another reason is that battery life is also shorter when the temperature is hotter. This happens because the heat tends to accelerate the sulfation process. Sulfation means that crystals comprised of lead sulfate start to develop. Lead sulfate typically forms around the electrodes of a battery as it discharges. It is not normally an issue as long as a recharge happens immediately. However, when a recharge doesn’t occur right away, the lead sulfate turns into crystals that are more difficult to charge.
Sulfation also occurs more rapidly due to parasitic loads. These are small currents that the battery delivers to the various electronic components of a machine. Although the parasitic loads and electrical currents are very minimal, they combine with heat to decrease the life of the battery.
